As is now the case in almost all areas of daily life, sustainability is becoming increasingly important when it comes to travel. In one of Germany's most popular vacation regions, the Black Forest, which is internationally renowned for its unique and lush nature, more and more hotels are therefore opting for green cleaning and cleaning completely chemical-free.
The multi-award-winning environmental hotel Seehotel Wiesler on Lake Titisee has been doing without conventional cleaning agents for two years now and instead works exclusively with modern micro-drying steam devices to clean and disinfect all hotel areas at the same time. "As an eco-friendly hotel, it is a matter of course for us to set a good example when it comes to using sustainable solutions and alternatives," explains Managing Director Klaus Günther Wiesler. The hotelier was therefore convinced by the fact that cleaning with the so-called microcleaners makes it possible to completely dispense with chemical cleaning agents. "In this way, we not only avoid chemical contamination of the waste water, but also a lot of plastic waste and unnecessarily high water consumption."
The reason: Microcleaners generate micro dry steam at over 9 bar pressure and over 180°C heat, which has a water content of just 5 percent. This so-called saturated steam consists of tiny steam molecules that no longer have any surface tension and can therefore loosen and remove dirt without the addition of chemical agents by penetrating even the smallest microstructures. Thanks to the low water content, even sensitive surfaces such as upholstered furniture, carpets, leather, wood and plastics can be cleaned effortlessly and sustainably, as there is no soaking. After all, only 1.5 liters of water are needed for a normal room cleaning instead of the usual 50-60 liters.
Focus on the health of guests and employees
The Familotel Hotel Engel in Todtnauberg also came across the possibility of green cleaning through a report on the Seehotel Wiesler and very quickly decided to switch to chemical-free cleaning. "As a family hotel, hygiene and health are extremely important to us. We not only want to effectively protect our young and old guests from germs, but also from harmful chemical substances. Of course, the same applies to our staff," emphasizes Silke Boch-Textor, Managing Director of the Hotel Engel.
The Green Cleaning Concept proved to be the ideal solution for offering both uncompromising hygiene and chemical-free cleanliness that does not harm health, for example through cleaning agent residues. "What's even better about cleaning with the Microcleaners is that we can also dispense with chemical disinfectants, because the high temperature of the micro dry steam means that thermal disinfection takes place at the same time as cleaning." Specifically, existing germs on all surfaces are reduced by over 99.99%. What's more, new germs find it difficult to establish themselves, as the micro-dry steam not only removes dirt, but also all residues of previously used cleaning agents.
One appliance for all soiling
The Hotel Saigerhöh in Lenzkirch-Saig has also been working on becoming "greener" for some time, which is why the Green Cleaning solution came at just the right time. In addition to the environmental and hygiene aspects, hotel director Simon Wiesler was particularly impressed by the easy handling and the wide range of applications of the Microcleaner. "Being able to clean an entire room with just one device, and without any chemical agents, not only makes the entire cleaning process much faster, but also much cheaper, as it saves not only cleaning agents but also water and, above all, time. Ecological advantages can therefore be directly combined with economic ones - a convincing combination, especially for hotels."
