The family-run funeral home Himml from Bayreuth can look back on almost a hundred years of company history. As important as the aspect of tradition is at Himml Bestattungen e.K., there is also great interest in innovative concepts and solutions such as the Green Cleaning concept, which owner Alexander F. Christ has discovered for his company.
"Just as in the medical sector, absolute hygiene is also essential for us and we have to deal with similar problems," emphasizes Alexander F. Christ. These include, above all, contamination from organic liquids and dealing with possible germs. "As in many industries, corona has made it abundantly clear to us how important it is to deal professionally with viruses and bacteria. If the main concern in hospitals and surgeries is to protect patients, our top priority is to protect our employees and third parties."
The Himml funeral home team includes two trained thanatopractitioners who specialize in the field of preservation and who are particularly concerned with hygiene. "During this work, we inevitably come into contact with various bacteria or viruses, some of which are still active post-mortem and even on inorganic surfaces for several days," explains qualified thanatopractor Robert Vöth. Complete cleaning and disinfection after every job is therefore an absolute must.
"We had already tried cleaning devices that work with steam, but they didn't bring any improvement in terms of cleanliness and hygiene," says Alexander F. Christ. Cleaning with micro dry steam was new to the Himml team. "Following a recommendation, we decided to have a demonstration of Medeco Cleantec directly in our preparation area and after a short time we recognized the advantages - especially for our needs." Organic substances in particular can often be removed best and most thoroughly using heat - especially when they adhere to clean surfaces.
"After just a short time, we were able to see the benefits of switching to Green Cleaning," explains Alexander F. Christ. "Our workspaces and all surfaces are visibly cleaner and more hygienic. At the same time, we save a lot of money on cleaning agents and disinfectants as well as water and waste water. And last but not least, cleaning is much easier thanks to the powerful mode of action of the Medeco devices. A sustainable and better solution that is also cheaper."
