Green Cleaning - the complete avoidance of chemical agents when cleaning and disinfecting - has long been common practice in numerous wellness hotels, thermal baths and spas. Medeco Cleantec GmbH, inventor of the Green Cleaning Concept, which is based on the use of state-of-the-art micro dry steam cleaners, is now one of the official partners of the German Wellness Association.
"The aim of avoiding cleaning chemicals as far as possible is becoming more and more prevalent, especially in the wellness sector," says Fritz Pattis, inventor of the Green Cleaning Concept. "This is partly due to the increasing importance of sustainability strategies in this area, but it is also about specific aspects such as water quality and contamination problems."
In both cases, green cleaning offers an effective solution that also brings economic benefits. By cleaning exclusively with very hot and very dry steam, Green Cleaning makes environmental pollution and waste production through the use of chemical cleaning agents as well as the associated costs a thing of the past. At the same time, cleanliness and hygiene can be improved many times over. "Cleaning with chemicals is an eternal vicious circle," explains Fritz Pattis. "Cleaning products leave behind residues to which new dirt immediately adheres and which are also an ideal breeding ground for germs."
Not only are dirt and residues completely removed with the help of micro-dry steam appliances - thermal disinfection also takes place automatically due to the high temperatures. "Many wellness facilities struggle with mold due to the humid and warm indoor climate, which is usually caused by residues of alkaline cleaning agents. What's more, chemical residues that stick to bathers' feet, for example, and get into the pool directly change the pH value of the water and make it more difficult to maintain the water quality, which in turn increases costs."
A current example of the consistent use of green cleaning is the new Lanserhof health resort on Sylt. "Sustainability and ecology were the focus of our latest resort right from the initial planning stage," explains Dorit von der Osten, General Manager of Lanserhof Sylt. "Starting with the natural architecture of Lanserhof Sylt and the use of durable products, it was only logical to choose a sustainable solution when it came to cleaning. All the better that we can completely do without chemicals with the Green Cleaning Concept - even in the wellness area."
